Located 50 miles off of the Florida Coast in the western Atlantic, The Bahamas comprises an archipelago of more than 700 islands and 2,000 cays extending across an area of approximately 80,000 square miles and a population of 385,000. During his discovery of the New World in 1492, Columbus named this paradise “baja mar” (shallow sea) because of its clear turquoise aquamarine and dark blue waters, the numerous brilliant coloured coral reefs and the pristine white and pink powdered beaches.
The Bahamas are served by various international airlines that fly from key destinations in Europe and both North and South America.
The Bahamas is considered a stable upper-middle income, developing nation, with more than 275 years of stable democracy.
